sofa king; if hanging a noose, a racial insult is deserving of a beat down by five people...why isn't a racial remark worthy of the same?
TO all of you who think the kid deserved what he got in Jena... I truly feel sorry for you. You've allowed yourselves to be consumed by the same hatred as racists. I hope some day you can change that.

Not sure why I am even replying to you, but since 4 people missed the point as badly as you seemed to have...I figued I had to.
I wouldn't even worry personally abotu someoen calling me a cracker, in all honesty I used to laugh at that when I was in highschool. But the kids who would use that term didn't like it when others would use other terms to describe their skin tone....
Isn't it funny how hypocritical people are when you get down to it? Nope, its more like sad and pathetic.

Please remember that this is more of a hypothetical than anything. I waited to state this because I wanted a more true response, even though I think most of you knew it was just a hypo.

it's really sad to me how ignorance resides on both sides of the race - black and white - I guess I pride myself in not commenting based on the majority, nor based on what I have heard in lieu of reading and researching the facts for myself.
If you just took time and read the articles, and then make a moral call on the entire issue, you will see that every party is wrong is some shape form or fashion, the issue's escalated because action was not taken, when it should have taken place - there were two fights - The first fight - the white guys beat down some black students off campus - the 2nd fight was when the black students retaliated and beat down the one white guy.
It's called cause and effect - Does not make the situation right, however everyone involved needs to take responsibility for there part. PERIOD FOLKS - take responsibility for your comments - make sure there not based on hearsay, but documented facts. let's stop the ignorance NOW.

No, if you and 5 of your friends do it, it's wrong, no bail and you deserve a long jail time. BUT, if they are the ones beating you up, it's different story, then, they are innocent, no bail, no jail time, OR the community will face riots. See the difference?
So, don't do it.

Yes. They made a racist comment about you and provoked you, thus you have every right to beat them up. Oh, and make sure you get a rally behind you, and try send them to jail, for being racist, and scream racial inequality while your at it!

None of it is justifiable, IMO.
These boys committed a crime, now they get to pay for it. Personal responsibilty, baby.
Too many people think the law doesn't apply to their special case.
