7/8-3/2..... Start with the given expression

In order to subtract these two fractions, these fractions need to have a common denominator.

In order to do that, we simply find that the LCM of 8 and 2 is 8

Now we need to get each denominator to 8

-(4/4)(3/2)..... Multiply 3/2..... by (4/4)

-12/8..... Multiply 3/2 and (4/4) to get 12/8

Since both fractions have a common denominator of 8, we can now combine the fractions

(7-12)/8..... Combine the fractions

-5/8..... Subtract the numerators

So

7/8-3/2 = -5 / 8

Finally a math question I can do. You need to find the least common denominator which in this case is 8. To make the demoninator of 3/2 = 8, you multiply 3/2 by 4 and get 12/8. Then subtract 12/8 from 7/8 and you get - 5/8.

In order to answer this question, you must find a common denominator and convert so that both fractions have the same denominator. Looking at the two, we can see that 8 is the LCD. How do you turn 2 into 8? Multiple by 4. So you multiply 3/2 x 4/4 to get 12/8. What is 7-12? -5. So your end product is -5/8. You would reduce if necessary, but it cannot be reduced any further.

to compute this the easiest this is to make sure both fractions have the same denominator. We can multiply 3/2 by 4/4 (which equals 1) to get 12/8.

Once wa have this the subtraction is easy
7/8 - 12/8 is the same as (7-12)/8, or -5/8.

Answer: -5/8

Find the LCD which is eight, then multiply 2 by 4 to get 8 and 3 by 4 to get 12.
(7/8)-(12/8) = -5/8

To add or subtract, the bottom numbers need to be the same. So multiply the 3/2 by 4 (top and bottom) to get 12/8. Then do the subtraction. 7/8 - 12/8 = -5/8. Simple, right?
