have a great day!
I don't think chivalry is dead. I live in the south and the men here still open the doors and so on.

No, it is not dead. I hold the door or wait for the elevator, or whatever for everyone, not just women.

As I said before, it's dying.
But I think it's feminists & womens libbers who are to blame, the fact you don't have a lot of these in your area is probably why you don't see this as much as in other parts of the world.
They put down men who try to help them, hold doors open etc, and claim they are being patronised.
This puts many men off doing the sort of thing I see as just good manners, man or woman I'll hold a door open if they are near, off a seat if I think they need it more than me on public transport etc etc.
I don't really care though, if 99 out of 100 have a go at me for what they see as being patronising I'd rather take that than not offer any help I can to just one person who will appreciate it/needs it.
That's how I was raised, and is how I will continue to act, no matter how unfashionable it is.
As for your last question, I see no reason why it was deleted, and hope you have had your points returned.
EDIT: Not supposed to get me laid .... damn, they can stand up & carry their own bags from now on ..... especially the really old grannies with hairy chins, blue hair & zimmer frames ...... LOL

It seems to be a 50/50 deal. You can tell who was taught to open doors for the ladies. My family & my husband's family was taught to treat the ladies' well. I find around where I live chivalry quite alive & I am pleasantly surprised how many of the young men who do open doors for me & I am grateful that they are taught to be respectful in such a manner :-)

Never dead, and I live in the south, too. It's always a pleasure to hold a door for a lady, no matter her age.

Men still hold the door open.. depending on the man of course. When it comes to my boyfriend, he gets highly offended if I go for the door without giving him the "opportunity" to hold it open for me. So, if I want to irritate him I simply grab the door and hold it open for HIM... mwahahahahah!

Chivalry died the instant it became abhorrent to whistle at a pretty woman.
