You can have several ways to block particular sites so you may need to look in multiple places to figure out exactly how they are blocked.

- Browser security settings - as mentioned by others, you can have the browser configured in a restrictive mode. Depending on your browser, the way to configure is different but similar.
- Host file - C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts can be setup with the hostname and the loopback (127.0.0.1) address to block sites as well (i.e. 127.0.0.1 www.badsite.com)
- Monitoring software - Applications like NetNanny can be setup to block offensive sites/content. Likely you will need to know a password to get into this to configure. You may need to uninstall the application if you don't know the password.

I really easy way to get around this is to use Firefox as your web browser. It's a lot safer to use than Internet Explorer and any blocks that were put using Internet Explorer won't effect Firefox.

Open IE > Tools > Internet Options > Privacy tab - now click on the Sites button and free up the ones you want.

Go to start up and click on run them type in cmd
them when the window pops up type in there (ping x)
then type ping ex. www.google.com it will them say the ip
adress use that but replace google with the web site you want
it may not work for all the websites but you can always use proxies.
hope it can help

You need to find out what the security settings are and reduce them to a less strict setting. Look under control panel.

it depends on who block them. if your mo m did, she wants them blocked for a reason, so leave them alone.
