Yes the Republicans do oppose birth control and have for a long time. My parents, married in 1932, sang a little song about the Republicans, one phrase was
"the rich get richer and the poor get babies".
Not much has changed!
I agree with you, birth control is the responsibility of both parties.

First of all, Republicans do not force people to have babies (I am NOT a Republican or a Democrat). People (yes I said people, men and women) didling around and failing to keep it in their pants is what makes people have babies. Republicans/conservatives are for abstinence, of course that is being defunded, it's politically incorrect. What is politically correct is not taking responsibility beforehand then having your unborn child sucked out of you. That's okay, right? Republicans/conservatives are NOT necessarily against health care for everyone. They are against a social program that will cause the government to control the healthcare system and will reach down into the average working persons pockets for yet more money to run another social program like welfare. Why doesn't the government just determine that whatever anyone earns, they can only have so much. The rest goes to the government to be distributed amongst the non-workers so that everyone can have exactly the same. I think the liberal faction calls it "leveling the playing field".That way there is not incentive to work hard or longer hours. We can be like the former Soviet Union. Hell, we are practically there now. It would be nice to have EVERYONE covered by healthcare, but not by floating yet another social program.

Why are people who can not afford health care for their children having children to begin with? Why can't they take a little personal responsibility and say, we can't afford children so we shouldn't have them. Why do liberals like to pick the pocket of the tax payor and give to those who think they are owed a living by everybody else? I assure you there are enough state programs available for poor families, in Florida we had a program that if you made less than 30K your children could be insured for $15 a month. Most conservatives oppose national healthcare because of the beauracracy that will have to be funded in order to administer it. Remember there is nothing Government can do outside of it constituional limits as well or a economically as private industry can!

Where is it in the Constitution that the country is responsible for providing health care - let alone healthcare in form of birth control and abortion. Those are moral issues, and many of us don't want our tax dollars supporting something that is immoral. Besides we already have welfare in place to take care of all those sick kids. If you can't afford to care for and raise your own children, then practice self control or get a job, or go back to whence you came.

Needy children already get free health care and they always will in the US, even if they and/or their parents are here illegally.
This "Nationalized" health care crap goes way beyond that. It forces every tax payer to pay for a federally mandated system, which will add over $100 Billion to our already bloated federal budget. If you decide that the government form of health care isn't to your standards, you can always pay for your own better health care plan, but you still have to pay for the inferior plan.
The "Republican" philosophy that you are referring to just expects people to be responsible for their own actions, because if the responsible people are always going to pick up the slack for the irresponsible people, eventually the scales will tip and there won't be enough contributors to provide cradle to grave breastfeeding to the non-contributing dependents.

Your ignorance is astounding. Republicans are not against birth control, or providing health care for needy children. They ARE in favor of personal responsibility, which includes keeping your legs closed, AND your fly zipped if you can't take care of the children you create. Although it is morally abhorrent, abortion is not illegal. Nobody is FORCING women to keep their babies. You are free to flush them down the drain as often as you like. There are also lengthy waiting lists of potential parents, willing to adopt.

You are right: you can't have it both ways! If you want to have the fun to make babies, you need to be responsible and take care of the baby.
Contraception has been around for thousands of years; the Romans used it; the French used it during the Medieval Period...surely you are as "modern" as the ancient Romans?
Let's face it: the number one problem in the U.S. and the entire world is an exploding population. Wars, diseases, pollution, everything else stems from the overpopulation.

I think that its an unfair generalization to say Republicans. What parts of the government do the Democrats control? I don't see any of them offering to take a pay cut to help pay for the programs. Its just easier to blame the other guy.

Why do democrats think that it's only about needy children? You're going to allow the illegals in this country get their share and you don't care. I'm not a repub which allows me to see through the party BS. It's not the kids so try to think outside of you limited thought patterns.

Why should I have to pay for the health care of my neighbor's niece's grandmother's granddaughter's brother's step-sister?
There are individual plans there that families can get, without causing my paycheck to dwindle. It's just like welfare-it's a great idea, but there are people who take advantage of the systems and it's loopholes. Why open that door. Besides that, the HMOs and Insurance carriers already tell me what prescriptions/procedures are and are not covered - do you really want the government to?!?
