Styrofoam Plates- Death Cab For Cutie- it's about a dead-beat dad's funeral

If You're Reading This-Tim McGraw-a soldier's death letter to his wife and unborn child; if you don't well up a little on this one you're heartless

Whiter Shade of Pale-Procul Harem-I don't know specifically what the lyrics are about, but the music just gives off a kind of sadness.

Walk Away-Ben Harper-Could be interpreted as a break up song, or even a loss of loved one

Brick-Ben Folds Five-A song Ben wrote about an abortion his high school girlfriend and he had to get.

The Saddest Song-The Ataris-A father who doesn't get to see his kid anymore

Adam's Song-Blink 182-Teen angst suicide anthem

What Sarah Said-Death Cab For Cutie-ICU waiting room angst

The End of Innocence-Don Henly (althought the Ben version has something extra)-just a sad feeling song

Tears In Heaven-Eric Clapton-wrote about the loss of his son, enough said

Dust In the Wind-Kansas-nothing we do lasts, and we are a spec of existence, that's cheery

Long Goodnight- The Get Up Kids-emo breakup song

Hard Times (No One Knows Better Than Me)-Ray Charles-my fave song of his, a "I'm broke and my woman don't love me" type of song

The News-Jack Johnson-basically song about how inhuman the newscasters are when they are talking about death and misfortune

Maybe the greatest song ever written, "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones. "Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley, "Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" by Elton John. And, "Same Auld Lang Syne(sp?) by Dan Fogelberg.

Have you ever heard the music from "Inside the Actor's Studio"? It comes on Bravo, and though it isn't depressing, it makes me want to cry every time I hear it. It's a beautiful, haunting piece of music.

That song from The Peanuts Christmas special. The one they hum while everybody is ice skating. It's also on "The Royal Tennenbaums" Soundtrack.

Decades by Joy Division

Very dark, creepy and real. Sung by Ian Curtis, who shortly thereafter showed he truly understood the 'darkside' and depression. What a waste. . .
