I just got a job offer but i'm not sure if i'm going to accept it. The main reason being it's 45 minutes away from my home. Not counting that i can ran into traffic, especially when coming back home. I'm not sure i want to have to drive 1h30 or more everyday just to get to work and back. What do you think and how far are you from work ?

Well... my drive isn't as bad as it used to be. I drive 55 miles one way to work, and that takes about 50 minutes. But since I go to class right after work, I usually drive about 165 miles a day.

It's not as bad as it sounds, you get used to it, and get up early so you don't have to deal with rush hour traffic.

I'm about 25 minutes from my job and I hit a lot of traffic every day. It should take 20-25 minutes but normally takes about 30-35. But the money is worth it and I like the job a lot. If you are offered good money and think you'll like the job take it. You'll get used to the ride and it won't seem that bad

Im only about 20-30 min away from work, 45 min coming home in traffic. I personally would only accept it if the pay is worth it, especially considering gas prices nowadays....and if you have a lot of patience to sit in traffic.

I live less than a mile from where I work and it takes me about 5 mins to get here.
I wouldnt take a job that's so far away. That's not worth it to me. Spending an extra 3 hours a day in the car when you could be enjoying friends or family, not worth it.

I have a 15 min commute but my husband is driving an hour each way due to traffic. Because of this we found out that we are spending roughly $6300 a year for gas that is 10% of our gross income! you would be well advised to factor this in to your budgeting if you take this job. After doing your figure you may just find that taking a lesser paying job for a shoter commute comes out to be the same ammount of pay if not more so after you factor that in.

I live on a small Island which means I don't live far from work - but the traffic is horrible - normaly it would only take 15mins/but with the traffic it takes 1hr 30mins. But I love my job so I leave early enough in the mornig to avoid the traffic

it depends on if the job is a good enough one. My ex husband used to drive that far to work, but he made REALLY good money and had great benefits. If you can find another job in that field that's closer to home you'd be better off, but if the job offer is really lucrative, or you think you can't find another one like it, then take it. Me? I work less than a mile away. But it's just a crummy fast food job.

You have to take into consideration how much gas you will use, extra wear and tear on your car, and how much that extra time is worth to you. If you are getting a considerable income raise then I would say take it, but I like to drive. If you aren't getting a very salary jump, then I would say no. I currently work from home (in home daycare provider), so I only have to fill my car up with gas about once a month.

It depends on the job, too.
I had a couple of jobs where the commute was less than 5 miles. Hated both of them
Now I am commuting 14.5 miles, 45 minutes, to a job I love, so I don't mind it at all.

I think anything more than 45 minutes away it too far. My job is a couple of miles away and I take the bus.
