Big cities also have more crime, muggings, general violence, more traffic, longer drives to and from work, etc. Everything is more expensive, too. I have a friend who says that, as soon as she buys something nice, there's a break-in and she's back where she started.
I live in a medium-size city and wish it was as small as when I moved here. It's taking on too many big-city aspects, and lots of people hate that.
It's nice to not have to depend on all of the so-called entertainment of large cities. I was offered a high-paying job near Chicago. When I looked into the logistics and problems, I realized that higher pay didn't balance out with the problems, including cost of living there vs. here. Besides, those of us who grow up in this region learn to rely on something other than nightclubs, theaters and such.
You keep the big city. I'm happy here~though this is a big city compared to the village where I grew up (300 people~or so the sign claimed). Gosh, we kids wasted our time creating a recreation center, reading, writing, sketching, painting, singing~all that boring stuff.

We always try to just get as many friends together as possible all the time...10 people hanging out together on a Wednesday night even if there is nothing to do is still better than sitting bored all by yourself. We always end up having some pretty entertaining conversations at least!

I just moved from a (relatively) small town to NYC.
I miss the peace and quiet. I miss the trees. I miss the walks in the countryside.

Feed the cows and chickens, slop the hogs.....
We do the same things you city folk do. Answer questions on Y!A, eat, sleep, go out with our friends, etc. I suggest you actually spend some time in the country before you form opinions about it.

Q for you?
Aren't you bored out with your busy, routine and stale job or jobs? Do you have any spare time at least to yourselves.

That's what I usually do, just walk around and look at the old houses. Some are very beautiful.

i live in a small town, about 15 minutes from town, but we still have plenty to do! in the summer we camp alot and swim and fish and hike, and in the winter we have alot of bon fires, until it gets real cold, but there is a bigger town about 30 minutes away with lots of stuff to do, and our town is growing too.
