Technically on 90% of all cars today, the body IS the chassis - called unibody cars. Older cars, larger cars and trucks use a separate chassis/frame that bolts to the body - thats why when someone is restoring a classic car they say 'frame off restoration' . The chassis/frame is needed to structural support for both the body and drivetrain - if there were no chassis- thered be no where to bolt the drivetrain to ( wheels, axles, trans, motor). So, like suggested- itd pretty much just sit there.
