Lately while I am driving the warning lights on my dash that warn you of open doors light up. It just flashes on for a sec or 2 then goes off. Does anyone know what could be causing this??

check to see if your dome light is flashing on and off when the door light icon is coming on. Almost always the door light warning is coming on because the switch at the door jamb is either loose or is worn out or the door is out of adjustment. If you look at the icon it should show you which door is open (right/left/front/rear). That would be the door with the problem. if the door is latching properly then the switch should be suspect. The switch is very easy to replace and usually costs less than $15.

if you notice that the warning light is coming on when you're drivieng over bumpy roads then the door is out of adjustment and should be readjusted to close tightly. Again, that's not a big deal to have the latch adjusted.

hope that helps

Common problem with cars more than 10 years old - same problem that occurs with my audis airbag light

effectively the connectors used to wire up the sensors are getting old. As a result dirt, dust and similar has got in there and is lowering the amount of surface that each of the connector is connected to on the other connector.

Typically even if the connection is still there but the signal is lower the light will go on - so the best bet is to find which door is causing the problem and then locate the connector between that and the car computer - clean the connector and you may need to get the light reset.

To aid this you can get a pc/laptop -> car connector from ebay and a program like VAGCOM - which will allow you to plug into your car and identify the problem/turn off lights :D

sounds like there may be a loose connection in the wires especially if the doors are tightly closed
