If someone pointed a shotgun at me and the cops did absolutely nothing about it I'd get a couple of buddies, go find the guy and give him some old-fashioned justice. Which is exactly what happened.

I feel there were multiple mistakes made here.1. White kids staking off territory for whites only. 2, putting up the hangman nooses. 3 the black young men trying to settle this affair with violence. 4. The court system playing favorites and using double standards which are racially biased. 6. There had to be some adults, such as teachers administrators that knew this situation existed and did little or nothing to diffuse the clash. 7. Many of forming opinions without really having been there! This is a good indicator on how racial relationships are going in the south among young people. The rally and support of Al Sharpton, Jessie and others may send a bad message to young black people. I hope they make it clear that they are there because of the double standards and not to condone the violent assault.

It never should have gotten as far as it did. It's sick that we still live in such a nation. Religion, Race, Sex, Sexual Orientation should not matter. People are people love them for the good person they are or hate them for being jerks and just stay away from them, but don't hang nooses from trees or 6 on 1 a guy, that's no way to change the world!

What the Jena 6 did was wrong. Gang jumping one guy and beating him up should warrant some punishment, aggravated assault and/or battery but somehow I cannot see how it rose to the level of attempted murder, especially since the teen who was jumped felt fine enough to go partying that same night- this according to him and his own parents.
I can't blame the " Jena 6" for how they might have felt with regards to the noose and considering not even 6 years ago 2 states over in TX there was the incident with the noose around his neck who was dragged to his death in a rural town there. That being said, it does not excuse their behavior.
However, that same night 4 white kids jumped a black kid and beat him up at that same party and nothing happened to them. Where was equal justice under the law for that incident? There should not the appearance of one set of rules for whites and one set for blacks. They both should be punished equally and if these 4 white kids who beat up the black kid, who had nothing to do with the previous attack, are charged, let them be charged with attempted murder as well

you know...i'm trying not to think about it too much because i get so angry. i dont see how people..of any color....would condone 6 guys beating up one. i dont see why they shouldn't be punished....and punished the way they are.
i am giving up on racism going away...people wont let it, they have to use the color of skin card. we should be praying that the one kid who was beaten to make a full recovery...not hope that the punks who did it get a lighter sentence.
i just dont get people.
