Four weeks pregnant is just about the time you would normally be getting your period. (Not sure if you are counting from the first day of your last period, or if you are counting from conception).

With a miscarriage that early, you would get cramping, and heavy bleeding. Nothing much more.

The best thing to do is stay consistent with your blood tests because the hCG levels should be doubling almost daily, so if there's any abnormal flucutation that is a huge indication of a miscarriage. At 4 weeks its hard for your doctor to tell from an ultrasound... only thing they could possibly look for is an ectopic pregnancy (in the tubes). If you were miscarring the amount of blood would vary like having a period, but during the miscarriage there would be large dark blood clots occasionally... But stay in touch with your doctor record any pain, bleeding, when how much, what color, in a notebook or on a calendar and get your blood tests done!

With my first pregnancy I bled a lot in the first trimester....very very scary. They would tell me that if it was bright red, or clumpy that was a bad sign. I did have bright red blood, no clumps. But, my baby was born healthy, thank goodness. There was no explination as to why I bled, but I have heard of pregnant women bleeding throughout their entire pregnancy and still delivering a healthy baby. However, you should be cautious of a low placenta. This can cause bleeding and can cause early labor. Your dr. can detect this by ultrasound. Also, to be on the safe side, you should always go to the e.r. when you have bled, so they can check on your baby. This will give you piece of mind too.

a heavy period. if you are just spotting then that is ok. but if you are having to wear pads and change it through the day then the doc really needs to know and if he still won't give you an answer you really need to go see another doc. Just incase.
