I'm not a Cowboys fan. I am not a T.O. fan by any means. I am a football fan. (Especially NCAA...Hook'em Horns!) I think that what T.O. did is only as big of a deal as everyone makes it. I don't think what he did merits the $7500 fine...that's excessive. He did what everyone expects him to always do..make a scene. It's kind of like giving a 4-year-old attention when they are misbehaving in order TO get attention! Anyone agree?

Outsidebreaker? I seriously hope that what you said was sarcastic and meant as a joke. You weren't scarred and your rights weren't violated.
I could understand the league taking a stance and fining him if he had drawn a picture of the Pats on his rear and mooned the crowd after the TD. I agree with the majority here. People need to lighten up! Quit taking things so seriously.

One more detail...
To anyone that didn't like what T.O. did?? Don't watch the Cowboys games. You know he's going to do things like that. If they bother you soooo much, and you feel "violated"...don't subject yourself to it. There are plenty of games to watch on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Broaden your horizons a tad.

All I know is that is was damn funny.
I think people are a little too sensitive these days. Anyone remember the Fun Bunch? (The Redskins making a circle in the end zone and doing a high five) When it comes to TO, he will probably never get the benefit of the doubt. He has made his bed, so I guess he gets to sleep in it. But the guy has been pretty decent in Dallas.
The one thing that fries me about TD celebrations is that the penalties are not equitable. If TO celebrates, he will get a penalty. If Brady, that overrated piece of garbage, celebrates, nothing happens.

I agree with you. This one was pretty ridiculous. That being said, it was something that has to be done. Remember how over the top the celebrations were getting a few years back? The sharpie, the cell phone, the pom poms? The reason he got the penalty and fine was that he used a prop - the goal post. Kinda ridiculous because he didnt really "use" it, just hid behind it. I guess the league feels they have to draw the line somewhere, and they drew it in bold. However, my problem with the penalties in this case is the following: doesn't anyone who dunks on the goalpost after the play technically "use" the goal post? How common is that kind of celebration? The fair and equitable treatment does not seem to apply here. I think if someone other than TO or Chad Johnson had done this "dance," nothing would have been done.

I agree with you 100%.
The NFL has a rule about using props in your celebration. He was flaged last year for using the football as a pillow after a TD.
I thought it was flat out funny, and the NFL is being overly-sensitive to the videotaping scandel. I also wonder if it was someone besides T.O., if the fine would have been as high.
But when you have a history, I guess you have to expect harsher punishment.

I agree that it was overboard.... and looking back in retrospect, if he would have done it on the sidelines like Ocho Cinco it would have been ok.
I do believe once again Ocho Cinco from the Kentucky Bengals (I'm a Browns fan, but I do love to watch him play) has established a new precedent with celebrations. He will be regarded as a trendsetter 20 years from now.

I expected a fine. It's not what he did or didn't do. The NFL put a rule in concerning exccisive celebration in the end zone. It was directly aimed at TO and Chad Johnson.
What TO did was NOT a big deal but the NFL has to draw a line somewhere and now we know (TO knows the line). Cross it and pay a fine.
The celebration was not that big a deal and 7,500 is not that big a deal either... imo

I sure don't watch the NFL for the sportsmanship. I watch it for the entertainment value. How are we supposed to take the NFL seriously when players have legal troubles, substance problems, and one of the most slurped coaches gets in trouble for cheating. i think what TO did was harmless. I would never watch the Bengals if it wasn't for Chad Johnson.
Lighten up commish.

Some people are just wack!!! What Terrell Owens did was very entertaining and for those who made a big deal about it are just HATERS!!!
If you don't have a sense of humor then you shouldn't watch football!!
So I agree with you 100%!

I totally agree! The NFL needs to be more worried about what ILLEGAL activities their players are doing OFF the field and fine THEM for the offenses.
(and no, this is not a poke at M. Vick...I'm talking about EVERYone who beats their wives/girlfriends, deals and uses drugs, carries unregistered weapons, committs assults, etc.).
Kudos to you for posting that - Go BUCKS!

Why did he get fined at all?
TO is going to do what TO wants to do. If we don't find it amusing, we should at least have enough maturity to ignore him.
I actually thought the thing he did was funny...and there have been worse celebrations than that.
