in short.....hell no.
Your question is full of generalities and half truths ... and unfounded lies! and I doubt you live in Europe. I do.
My original answer has been here for 3 days, and you have received 28 answers, without choosing a BEST. I received 4 thumbs up. Many people received several thumbs up.
But you, Toad Face (your own choice of words) are apparently not intellectual enough to choose one.
I am deleteing my orignal answer.

Oh, my, is this a wind-up?
You are WAY off the mark and if you're in America, it is embarassing to read. It is precisely this attitude that makes the rest of the world hate Americans.
There MAY be an element of jealousy but it is the ignorance of typical Americans to everyone and everything else on the planet that creates the hostility.
America has a history of invading other countries and starting wars only for the gain of America and NOT for "freedom".
If you actually believe what you've written, you are indeed, one of those brainwashed Americans and one of the people that I spend WAY too much time apologising for.
That's right, I've lived for substantial amounts of time in several countries and I am often asked: "Why are Americans, or why do Americans, etc. etc." and I have to say to these people: "We're not all like THAT". In other words like what you've written above.
Thanks for showing the world why exactly America is hated and making it more difficult for the sensible people who don't live there anymore to get on.
Oh, and newsflash!!! In Britain, America is ripped to shreds in newspapers, television, sit coms, dramas, documentaries, comedians and just about anyone game to use an easy target for a rant.
As a whole, the Brits hate Americans - yes, there are people here and there but the general consensus is that you are hated NOT because of your "freedom" but because you have no clue what is happening in the rest of the world and you think you have the right to crap on it just because you're ignorant to it.
Unbelievable.
Here's some free advice: (1) TRAVEL. Go to a country and spend about a year there and learn some humility. (2) Don't believe what your precious government tells you. If you voted for Bush then you are clearly brainwashed and of quite low intellect. Educate yourself.
Oh, and by the way, I'm ex-Army.
Learn some responsibility for your actions and some humility.

Freedom in Iraq and Afgahnastan??? Ask them if they have more freedom. How can you have freedom if you live every day in fear?
Explain how you have more freedom in the US than I have in Europe? I can't be put in jail for not watering my lawn!!!! I won't be tazered for speaking! I won't be watched over and have my telephone conversations tapped, and I can protest, own a gun, and speak as freely (propbably more freely) than anyone in the US. Try standing in the middle of Time Square and shouting that you love Islam or Osama Bin Laden. I could certainly do that here in Europe. That my friend is freedom. I can drink in many countries from the age of 16 (beer and wine) and spirits from the age of 18. You probably can't even get into a bar yet!!!! I have the freedom to work in any European country without a work permit. I have as many rights as any American!

Well Im British and I think most Europeans hate the Bush Govenrnment (as do everyone I know in Britian). But there is a distinction between the government and USA as a country. Indeed the anger against Bush and his cohort is exactly BECAUSE he has changed such a great beacon of freedom into a paranoid, divided, war-mongering, isolated state.
Well why dont you pack your bags and head for Baghdad or Kabul then, because its now a utopia of liberal democracy? The truth is that Iraq was invaded for WMD and now there is more torture and killing than under Saddam (despite the military celebrating last week that they have made the mammoth achievement the levels of violence of July 2006). He was a bad guy but he kept the waring factions appart, that Bush didnt even know about before he invaded, criminal.

Europeans don't agree with Dubya because of his actions. They do have freedoms.
Freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq? Since when freedom means invading countries for profits?
You know, extreme nationalism is bad (like all extremes).

No country has freedom in the true since, not even us in the US, more of our freedoms our violated by dumbass laws passed by retards like Bush. Everyone hates us because for some reason we think that the way we do things are best and we need to push our beliefs and systems down the throats of everyone else in the world. Like going to war with Iraq, Vietnam, South Korea. The only one that i agreed with was WWI and WWII

Saying that all Europeans hate all Americans is an incorrect stereotype. Saying that some (maybe even most) Europeans hate some (again, maybe most) Americans would be true.
This is because the stereotypical American is arrogant, stubborn, and ill informed (in the eyes of stereotypical Europeans). The simple fact is that most Americans don't take the time to look after anyone but themselves. This includes in academic studies, politics, and as far as giving someone else a helping hand. If we want Europeans to look at us in a better light, we need to give them a reason to. Learn French or German; study up on Polish history; visit the continent (you won't regret it).

But where u live? On the moon?
We dislike Bush's politics and his stupid militarism.
After the II World War America has invaded a lot of countries.
America has a lot of not wanted militar bases in the other countries.
Stop war and go back your soldiers to home.

they dont hate our freedom...they hate our leaders and the choices that they make...because we dont mind our own business...the choices that our leaders make affect the rest of the world...and they know that and dont agree with them
Europeans also have MORE understanding of America and the political system than most Americans do...i am American...and i have spent a lot of time in Europe living and working abroad in several EU countries...and they know more about us and our laws and procedures than you would imagine.
ALSO...we have brought nothing but war, death, and uncertainty to the middle east...our "leaders" are sending over our troops who are risking their lives...and losing them to spread freedom??? NO look at the facts its not to spread freedom at all...that's just the disguise its under...there are other reasons that involve dirty politicians money oil and greed...that it why we are making the attempt to "rebuild" these countries.
America is the beacon of freedom...and yes we are powerful...but unfortunately the people who are running this great country are using the positive influence we do have for their personal gain
America is losing its power and sphere of influence because of the people who are in charge....
so if you are old enough...VOTE in the next election to hopefully induct some honesty and intelligence into office...and ALWAYS ALAWAYS pray for our troops...

I guess Europeans hate 'freedom' because it requires that you fabricate reasons to illegally invade a sovereign nation while systematically removing your own nation's individual rights and disseminating outright false propaganda against anyone disagreeing with your 'patriotic' motives.

Why do so many Europeans hate freedom so much?
Answer...ummm..maybe I am reading the BBC news (www.bbc.co.uk) incorrectly....but, I am sure that last time I checked Europe, including England was free, and we had rights of freedom and speech.
If you were talking about the middle east or the far east I could partly understand your point of view.
