Hi ,yes, l do think its a must these days,- plus- all her mates will have one- Yea-l know-l know- you shouldn't "Follow" like sheep- but nor do you want your child to be "Different" it allows the child to ring in emergency, it enables you to keep in touch, and know where your child is, it enables her to keep in touch with friends- or discuss homework. It should only be used for the parents to contact the teenager for anything, or for the teen to use in emergencies. It should not be used for basic BS-ing -- unless the parents don't want them to tie up the regular phones... LMAO

If the parents feel the teen is responsible enough for a cell phone, she must be made the pay the monthly phone bills that go along with it. Might teach her some things about money management.

My 13 year old daughter has a cell phone. But she has it for my peace of mind. I am a single working mom. I work from 8 to 5 and she has to walk home from school. My job is good about letting me get her calls after school. She calls when she leaves the campus, and then when she gets home...so I know she is safe. She is very responsible with it. Now my 23 year old...she is another story.
