In time of war people need to support our leaders and soldiers- if they don't agree with the war, they need to shut up.
Libs who slam Bush and the troops reveal their deep hatred for this country. Attacking and questioning the President and the troops in wartime should be punsihed with prison time-It is not 'free speech'!
Does anyone think it really is?
Moveo.org, cindy sheean and any liberal scum who spouts anti authoritarian communist propaganda should be arrested.
The problem with freedom in America is we have too MUCH freedom. If redefining freedom of speech will get the liberals, hippies, athiests and feminazis out of my country and in jail where they belong, Im all for it.Here is liberal logic for you- In their communist mind, its okay to spew anti American hate at our soldiers or President- BUT you CAN'T say anything that might *OFFEND* someone who is a homosexual, black or Muslim. God forbid we offend the Muslims!
Why don't liberals realize they abuse freedom of speech?

You got to speak your mind, and in doing so you said:
-- "if they don't agree with the war, they need to shut up."
It would seem that you want to take freedom of speech away from those with whom you disagree.
-- "Libs who slam Bush and the troops reveal their deep hatred for this country. Attacking and questioning the President and the troops in wartime should be punished with prison time-It is not 'free speech'!
It is free speech, not hatred, to view our government with a critical eye and to voice our concerns. So, you want to send me to prison if I disagree with you ? That's interesting!
-- "If redefining freedom of speech will get the liberals, hippies, athiests and feminazis out of my country and in jail where they belong, Im all for it."
You better start building more prisons to contain all those with whom you disagree. Who hates America here? It's starting to look as if you are the one filled with hate.

Be careful when pointing the finger at others, three point back at yourself. I don't hate my country and I am not proposing to shut you up just because I don't agree with you. Too bad being an American is so tough for you.

Please go back to your high school civics and history books.

You are advocating that the government prosecute and jail people for dissent. The country was founded on the very concept of not doing that.

Your position that people shouting down unacceptable ideas is a violation free speech is ludicrous. Again, free speech means that the government can not control what you say. The market place of ideas is an entirely different matter. It is perfectly OK for people (not government) to express disdain for, ignore, and inhibit offensive utterances. If the ideas have merit, they will prevail.

So if you don't like what liberals have to say, you are free to criticize and offer alternative ideas, but you are not free to call on government to silence them with the force of law. But the ideas you are offering are about as un-American as any I have seen. The government will permit that you to express them. We don't have to listen.

Nice rant. I'm not going to report you because I, as a "liberal", believe you have every right to spout this hateful facist nonsense for everyone to see. And it is completely facist - Hitler controlled the populace of Nazi Germany the same way you wish our Government to control opposition here.
I'm also sick of hearing you morons equate questioning the President or Government with not supporting the troops. Its a pathetic attempt to imply guilt by association and it really doesn't fly anymore with the average joe. Our Government is elected and are public servants. That means they have to answer to US. We have every right to criticize their decisions and motives. We are all stockholders in this country and WILL have a say in how it is ran. Even during wartime - ESPECIALLY during wartime.

People should not fear their Government
Governments should fear the people.

Dude you are perhaps the biggest moron ever to post a question on YA. Think about this quote:

"Dissent is not a right; it’s an obligation. It is a part of citizenship to actively engage the world, to critique it, to try to solve problems, and to heal it.”

Now think about your statement: The problem with freedom in America is we have too MUCH freedom.

You are no more than a fascist. You blame liberals because they bash Bush who deserves every bit of the criticism. Liberals support the troops, it is the Conservatives that shite on them, over and over.

But as a liberal I believe you have every right to make these moronic statements. No one ever claimed freedom of speech must be intelligent. You have just proved this statement with your post. Coward.

Really.... I have heard no one spew hate at the soldiers, as a amtter of fact my stepson is in the military as we speak, I totally supported his choice as i feel joining the military is very honorable....at the same time if I feel that politicians are misusing our military and wasting the lives of young kids like my stepson....you bet I'll be griping about it..... Scarier is why you would believe that anyone with an opinion that differs from yours should be jailed, you know there are countries in this world you can live that the rules are exactly as you want, Saudi Arabia, Syria, iran, etc...... i guess we just differ on what it means to support our troops.... I will support them by holding elected leaders accountable when they waste our young mens lives....you can continue to support them by standing on the sidelines, rooting for your "team", waving a pompom and a flag, while they are the ones who get their legs blown off.

What most people do not realize is freedom of speech does not/should not protect them from the consequences.

What do you mean too much freedom? You are ranting. Read the Constitution about freedom of speech. You want to take that away or only away from people who dont agree with you and therefore from me????? And what if I want to take that right away from you or is there another right that you are willing to give up????
