I used to be a nanny for 9 month old twins and a two year old all the same family. I would clean and cook in this household , I did have a lot of experience so my pay was good. But dont allow yourself to be taken advantage of . I didnt clean the whole house just light dusting, sweeping, vaccuming, doing the dishes and the girls laundry ( I only cleaned the main floor of the house ) My pay was $500.00 a week salary so I dont know if that helps you but you should be getting paid at least 9-10 dollars an hour. Pay depends on the children's age and how many of them there are .

hi i use to work for a home cleaning service. if you start cleaning for the family you should determin how many days, an how many hours that you'll be cleaning first. i know that i had my own customers an charged them 80 to 100 doing 3 bd rooms a bath an the living room an kitchen. all dusting, all straighting, an moping, garbage an that sourt of stuff. you just need to make a list an make a choice by how comfortable you are with the family. but dont promise a daily cleaning if your not up to it! tired moms can be very mean. good luck an hope your job in cleaning goes well.

OK, first how many hours a week will you be cleaning?

Honestly, I never combine nannying with cleaning because there's plenty of room to be taken advantage off and then you'll have no one else to blame but yourself for letting it happen!

You know you're worth a lot more. You say you don't care about the money but simply love to be around children. There are plenty of nice families who want loving nannies for the kids and are happy to pay you more so you are not stuck in this position.

Anyhow if you clean, you should charge a minimum of $10 per cleaning hour more than usual.

The going rate for housekeeping here is $10 - $12 per hour. I would add that to what you make for childcare. But if you are doing it to be around children you could charge less. I wouldn't clean unless I was paid for it. Other than cleaning up after a meal or activity. When they ask why you haven't been cleaning, I would say because I am not being paid for it.

Communication is the answer. Talk w/ the mom or dad and let them know the "going" rate of a sitter. Then let them know that you would be interested in light cleaning for an additional fee. See what you can work out. Have some numbers in mind. For instance if your friend babysits and makes $6-10/hr, then you should make something similar. Most parents are very understanding, let her know that you are "new" at this type of conversation and would like to use it as a learning experience.
My neighbor, age 12, makes $6/hr to babysit. My professional cleaning woman charges $10/hr.
