I just bought a used Toyota and had it inspected by an independent mechanic (who said the brakes were in great shape). The car is also under manufacturer's warranty. In the past couple of weeks, the brakes started squealing for the first 2-3 stops after starting the car....then everything quiets down. Should I be concerned?

Also, it's been raining a lot lately. Could it be moisture?

Probably Disk brake dust on the pads, a annoyance more than anything...try to high pressure rince them on your next car wash!

It's entirely possible that it's time to replace the brakes. I have a Toyota Corolla, and the brakes started squealing as a indicator that it's time for some maintenance. GL!

Does your car get parked outside overnight? If so, then most ofthe time you will get a slight glaze of rust and dirt on the rotors. Once you brake a few times, the pads clean it off. I wouldnt be concerned.

your rotors become covered with a film of rust when sitting overnight.after a few applications to the brake pedal they are cleaned off.if your vehicle has four wheel disc the noise will be more pronounced.
