I made it a policy years ago not to get advice from anyone who has had a life worse than mine.

I hate to say this but I had to start with my own mother who's got advice for everyone that will answer your question.

My favorite one of all time was my friend who had children who were "devil spawn" and she would lecture at length about the issues other people's kids had. Then she would give lectures about how the parents needed to "step up to the plate" when hers were so bad.
I was literally amazed by the gall, but I guess she never really knew how ironic it was for her to say such outlandish things!
