If you want one that no one else will do...

Environmental Engineers across the country have "stable populations" which they count. Such as, a community of ground squirrels outside of town where no one is likely to poison them. A sudden drop in that population has to be reported as a possible outbreak of plague (really it does)

Bats are counted as an indicator of a sudden outbreak of Rabies.

A water community such as crawfish will be counted in certain waters as an indicator of a sudden toxic problem which might affect sources of drinking water.

Certain birds are counted as an early warning of air quality problems.

Some plants are considered indicators of specific problems also altho I wasnt involved in those so I dont remember any of them specifically.

just a few ideas....... first forest= deforestation can lead to problems such as, if there are heavy rains, the lack of trees and other plants can lead to the lack of absorption and can provoke flooding and landslides. also less photosynthesis and more carbon monoxide.. and it destroys the habitat of wildlife and contributes to global warming................wildlife= killing off species and make a chain effect and hurt others (the whole prey and hunter thing)
resources= keep in mind that most of the natural resources if not all take thousands of years to regenerate and we're using it at such a fast pace that we're not giving nature time to do it's job, also they are highly contaminating
