If it requires 1 gb, that's usually the amount of memory required to run smoothly.

If you want it to run with 256 mb, expect lots of slowdowns, if not system crashes, as the textures would likely be loaded to your harddrive since Windows is taking up the 256 mb you have.

It's probably best to give up for now on playing that game on your system.

Solution: Buy more ram or load the game with the lowest possible texture settings (and hope for the best).

It might also be that the game actually requires 1 gb and won't let you get past the setup if it sees you have only 256 mbs.

The answer is MAYBE, but doubtful. If you need 1GB (4x as much as 256MB), it will probably not run at all...but, you might get it to run barely. If it does run at all, it will be so slow that it would not be worth playing.

Check out http://www.crucial.com to see what type of RAM you need for your computer and then buy some more at http://www.tigerdirect.com

TigerDirect has some of the best prices on RAM...get Ultra brand...it has a lifetime warranty and is very well priced.

In all likelyhood, no. If it runs at all, it will be extremely slow and probably cause your computer to lock up. With that much of a discrepancy it would be better to buy more ram before trying to run the game.

If you require $1 to get int a club will they let you in for a quarter?

Much the same for memory requirements of a game. You may be able to negotiate your way in for 90 cents but not for a quarter... so 900Mb might be enough if you shut down every unnecessary process in Windows. But 256Mb won't be.

The required RAM is what the manufacturer of the game suggests for normal gameplay. You can try it, but it will be very slow.

Sometimes you can get away with fewer resources then the specified requirements - but having only 1/4 of what is stated as needed means the answer is almost certainly 'no'.

It may run, but it will frequently crash and your system will lag horribly. Don't run the game if you don't want to damage your computer.
