Not at all. You can actually pay for a trip to space as a space tourist. One of the members of N'Sync actually bought a spot on a russian space mission. They sent him through the entire training program. He never actually went, because he found out he was broke and couldnt come up with the money for the trip. However, it demonstrates that anyone can go if they really want to.

You'll need to be very smart on your math AND science if you want to be an astronaut. You should also know that the astronaut program is VERY competitive, so you'll probably need an advanced degree in aerospace engineering if you want to make the first cut. Many astronauts are former pilots from the various branches of the Armed Forces, and in order to be a pilot you have to have a degree and you have to meet the physical requirements. It's a tough road on the way to becoming an astronaut, so if that's your dream be prepared to do A LOT of work to get there.

astronauts usually have a very good air force back ground. besides that they also know a lot about the equipments they are using, e.g. they may be good engineers, good electricians etc. however often the people that go to space are not necessarily pilots, obviously every mission needs some pilots, but often geologists and scientists who have no back ground of flying what so ever go to the moon or space. simply to do some experiments in the vacuum of space or understand the history of the moon and stuff. i would say luck plays a very big part in being chosen to go on a mission to the moon since that happens very rarely, which is not to say that the better you are the more chances of being chosen you have. but i think these days every astronaut gets to go to space in his/her lifetime at least once. oh one more thing, if a pilot has a history of violence, drugs they have absolutely no chance of even being part of NASA or any space agencies for that matter. many people want to go to space and many have failed, very little lucky people get to do this honor.

Yes, BUT if you aren't very good at them right now, that doesn't mean you can't be good at them in the future. I had very low grades in science and math in middle and high school. When I got to college, I started in the lowest possible math course I could find. It taught me math from the basics. I discovered that I had missed some concepts and ideas along the way somewhere. It took a lot of work (I practiced math and met with my teachers a lot) but I finally got it. All math (and science) builds on what you learned previously. So if you miss a piece, it's easy to fall behind because you are missing a piece of the puzzle. So try going back to the beginning and practicing. You can find help on the internet (ask Dr. Math, PurpleMath, Math.com, etc), you can talk to your teachers and arrange to put some extra time and effort in, you can talk to your parents to see if they can get you a tutor (either a service like Sylvan or a college kid (CHEAPER!!!) that can meet with you once a week), there's lots you can do to "catch up." I went on to be a math tutor for years. I majored in Chemistry and minored in Math. I ended up doing Instructional Design, but my math and science knowledge come in handy all the time.
Being an astronaut is a difficult path, but if you are determined you can do it! :)
Good luck! :)

Most likely. You'll need to be a very high achiever to even be considered for the program, much less to actually fly into space. Even astronauts like Christa McAullif and Barbara Morgan, who are NASA's teacher in space astronauts, are highly motivated people.

You need to either be a science ace or a flying ace. Preferably both. And it's hard to be a flying ace without a thorough understanding of the science of your spacecraft.

No most are not.
They have a BA degree in something. Often Military Studies.
They meet Military Pilot Medical Speifications (eye sight, height, weight and other factors).
They fly military planes for many years and then apply to NASA for the space program.

To qualify as an astronaut you would need at least one Degree probably two.
Teachers and other visitors do not count as astronauts, they are just PR luggage.

No, you could be a doctor or a pilot. You must have good grades, but pick something you really like to learn about and it will be fun insted of difficult.
