My english teacher was saying that, (because we were studying commas) that there was actually a war fought because of a comma that was either misplaced or not there. He couldn't remember much about it and wanted to see if we knew. If anybody knows about it I really want to know and a reliable source link would be greatly appreciated.

I know of no war fought over a comma. But there was a war between England and Spain fought over a sea-captain's ear - The War of Jenkin's Ear

During the Republican convention that nominated R.Reagan, the first time, there was major battle fought over one comma in the party platform on balancing the budget. Sorry can't remember exact wording, and don't want to guess.
