not put so much effort into keeping Madeleine in the public eye,to most she would be forgotten, to prove my theory that most would have forgotten, I ask how many other missing children you can name? If I was misfortune enough to have ever found myself in their position I would wish to show the strength, resolve, and determination to do what is best for my little girl and not fade into the background or worst still, be so hysterical in demanding attention for myself.
Do you believe Madeleine would be such a huge topic of conversation and in the forefront of peoples minds if The McCanns had not shown such bravery?
Don't waste your time typing 'they neglected blah, blah, I don't believe people as so stupid that they could fail to grasp what you keep saying to a point of stupor.

Splodge: there is no guarantee that whoever did this can be caught.. I also believe that even if the Portuguese police had all the cutting edge forensic technology available that they would be guaranteed to solve this case. Some cases just can't be resolved.
nicole: There would be no fund, a fund which may benefit other missing children in the future without the McCanns efforts. To have sat at home wrapped in self-pity would seem a little disgraceful to me.
Ladybug: You would have to be severely mentally handicapped to read the posts on this matter and not have seen that phrase at least a 1000 times, either before or after every hate filed rant at the McCanns.
Justme: How did you answer this if you are blocked? You have me blocked, even to the many hate filled questions you have posted about me, but that suits me, go away and find another question to give yourself 7 thumbs up to. Cards on the table I think you're stupid, malicious and nasty, so lets agree to ignore one another.

you get a star!!!! what a wonderful way to word what alot of people have been thinking!
I think alot of people have a problem with the fact that they have used their "middle class stature" to get their story out -
for the sake of their daughter. Everyone of the haters would do it too if they could - and if they say they wouldn't - they are lieing!

I have always said that what the mcCann's have done has taken a great deal of courage and dignity. It could not have been easy for them to put themselves in the limelight to find their daughter. Having to stave back their own grief to highlight their case in my opinion takes guts.
I am sure that there are those who feel differently and only see them as news sellers and all the other dark torrid ideas that some people have.
They would have been told not to show emotion or feeling to the camera's, because they would only be feeding the persons appetite, who could very well be a paedophile or some other such dark character. There are things they have been told not to discuss and we have to respect that. Why should they break that ruling just because a few people think they should just to feed their curiosity or some other goulish reason. As it turns out, it was probably wise under the circumstances they are in now. There will be things that have to be kept quiet from the public for fear of the real culprit being tipped off.
Even in the face of such animosity and criticism from others, that they are very much aware of. They are still carrying on that fight. Most people would have hidden in a corner by now licking their wounds. They are not. They are just as determined as ever.
I do hope it all turns into a happy ending.

Any parent would go to the ends of the earth to find answers and their missing persons but sadly only the ones enabled to do so seem to have sufficient funding to pursue this but i also believe timing is of great importance with the police and that all cases are subject to strict schedules so maybe thats why some cases are still left unsolved and remain at the pit of all police depts,i also know of Ben Needham who went missing(still looking 16+yrs on) not only for Kerrys(his mum) recent interviews relating to the McCanns but the fact that i went to school with her. ask me anyone else then no.. theres ur answer, like u say the best and most positive act i could do to show i love my child is to make sure i remain in as much of the public eye as i can showing everyone how brave i am

There's absolutely nothing wrong with raising awareness and as much publicity as possible for Madeleine, that I agree with. What I don't agree with, is while raising Madeleine's profile was the constant beg for money to help "search for Madeleine" Money that is still sat there, and has NOT been used in any contructive search to date.
Now of course, it's the begging for legal fees. That aside, all this publicity has not brought one single, genuine sighting or if there is a kidnapper, certainly they've not come forward for any money. So, I don't know if the campaign has actually done any good. It hasn't brought anyone out of the woodwork, it hasn't tempted anyone to come forward, but what it may have done, is actually made an "abductor" panic because there is so much awareness of Madeleine, that she may well have been killed because of it.

I was talking about young Ben Needham with
my daughter-in-law today. he would be eighteen years of age now.
There was a lot of accusations made about the family at the time, but not on the scale that the McCanns have had to go through.
If one of my grandchildren went missing I would raise the roof.I would do do anything and
everything to make sure the public did not forget about them. Seems to me, they are damned if they do ,and would be damned if they didn't do anything.
I make no assertions because I do not know what happened that night. No matter how long it takes, let the authorities deal with it.

I agree, perhaps though their determination to keep Maddie at the forefront has contributed to the media frenzy and speculation that the McCanns were involved in their daughters disapperance. I have no doubt that they would do it all again if it meant finding their child. Itseems that whatever Kate and Gerry do,to the media,it will have sinister undertones.

After she went missing the story was kept alive in the papers for weeks. Then one day there was nothing and the story was reported on just every few days.
It may sound horrible but one good thing to come of Gerry and Kates being so much in the papers is that this story is being very much kept in the public eye and that maybe some good might come out of it.
Now the case against them has collapsed we can all focus on finding Madeline.
Can i just also say to the people who think the profile of the case is cos the parents are affluent, Holly and Jessica and Sarah Payne's parents weren't rich. There is a national framework that when a child goes missing and the police suspect a paedophile, it goes national with hours.

Again, Ben Needham.
The vast majority of the other missing small kids you see in the press tragically turn up dead on some piece of wasteland relatively quickly. It's one reason people think this whole situation is weird, and the press are obsessing over it. We want some kind of closure.

I said from the beginning, in an email to Gerry & Kate, that I wasn't sure all this publicity would help to find Madeleine and to bring her abductor to justice. In fact, I said, I was worried that it would scare the abductor and that would be the last thing anyone would want.
I told them. Anyway, too late now, The McCanns are international news and Madeleine is STILL MISSING.
Poster Above. I remember Holly's father is called Kevin as he did appear on tv quite a bit, the other parents let him be spokesperson. however, they were all on tv often in press conferences and appeals to the abductor. For 14 days every news bulletin was about Holly & Jessica. I think you have a selective memory.

So often a supporter asks a question and they always put at the end they don't want to hear about the neglect. Why? The neglect is the only fact whatsoever. Had the neglect not happened then you would have no reason to even ask this question and there would be no reason for anyone involved in this case to be in the public eye. How is going to see the pope finding Madeleine? Going to the US to the white house? Writing a public blog that mentions yourself more so then your missing daughter? Jogging each day? Who visits and who you take to the airport? And the most annoying of all....the complaint about the size of the plane they were put on in some other country and how cramped they were..when the cost of the plane ride was donated. How about the wallet? How many thieves have an attack of their guilty conscience and mail back the walllet? Are people really that gullible? How about saving the man on the airplane? How is it any of these things helped in the search for Madeleine?
