That whole family of invented names that Black people use at the moment, especially for girls: "Lawanda", "Roshonda","Lakeisha", etc, etc. Not to mention the really exotic ones with ridiculous and pretentious spelling and extra capitalization. There are some beauties for boys, too, though. How about pro football player
"Lavernues" (pronounced La-vern-ee-us) -- Coles???) I've heard that the purpose of this fad is to give the child an individual identity. Sure enough, I've found that when I get one of these "unique" folks on the phone (say for Customer Service from the bank), the only thing to do is hang up and start over again immediately as soon as they say their name, because they almost always turn out to be so darn selfish that it's impossible to ask them a question and get an answer!

It seems that giving a child a name they end up having to "defend" all the time isn't so much giving them a privilege as it is giving them a handicap like Johnny Cash's "A Boy named Sue".

But let's not leave out an alltime great: "Soleil Moon Frye"!

Some names suit some people so there are none I hate. But, I hate strange spellings and I think names should mean something rather than just the sound.

Nevaeh! Heaven spelled backwards Yuck! Anyname that is meant to sound like an everyday word ie. Liberty, Freedom, etc. Names after cosmic stuff: Star, Cosmo, etc. I wish people would not give their kids names they would consider for their dogs! lol
Gotta agree with the person befor me that said Taylor is NOT a guys name! How true!

Babies named after 'celebrities'
Babies named after cars such as Mercedes
Babies named after non name words such as Angel, Rainbow etc etc
Guess I'm old fashioned, but even then babies given old men names like Jack, (a derivative of John, its NOT a proper name) and it seems every second baby boy has that name at this stage, it was cute 10 years ago, now its boring

The worst (non-celebrity) baby names I have ever known (not just via rumor) are:

Magazzine Ednis (girl)
Eugene Kelley (boy)
Bluesong Rainchild (boy)
Derry Omar (boy)
PJ Marie (girl) - her first name is PJ (those are NOT initials)
Cookie Antennya (girl)

Other names I dislike personally are (for any gender): Morgan, Jordache, Corey, Taylor, Brittney, Leslie, Madison, Pat/Patrick/Patty/etc., or Robert/Bob.

Liberty
Ollie
anything that has La in front
or names of things that are not people ie Apple

Elspeth
Pugh
Any name followed by the 2nd or the 3rd ---especially if the person has an inconsiquential history --- so pointless !
Names that confuse the reader as to what gender they are arranging accomodation for ---such as Lee or chris etc.!
