I was recently in Godspell. It's a fun play and it has very 70 style of music. My favorite song was " Bless the Lord" and another really pretty on is " By my side".

Godspell is quite possibly one of the best plays I've ever seen (non-equity touring show and cross-town rival high school), been in (as Jesus in 3 different productions), choreographed, and directed. It is also very underrated as a theatre piece for showcasing talent and open for wide varieties of interpretations by different directors. For instance, the first production I was in was in a church's multi-purpose room with minimal lighting; the second was on a college stage. The touring show had a pile of 50 TVs scattered at the back of the set. The cross-town rival high school had a policy of using everyone who auditioned, so they had a core of 12 main players and a chorus sitting around the edges of the stage of maybe 50 more people.
Not all productions I've seen have been good, but the play itself is. And even the not-so-good shows taught me something or gave me an idea. Go see it or audition for it; I don't think you'll be disappointed

Oh yes. Excellent musical.
Direct from the bible with just enough of a modern spin to keep everyone happy and entertained.
If you're interested, they did make a film version. It's not quite as good as the original stage production, but it can definatly give you some good ideas. Enjoy!

I saw it in a theatre quite a number of years ago and I do remember enjoying it - however, I also remember not really wanting to see it again.
It was good, but not really anything that I would want to see time and time again (like Joseph or Rocky Horror).
I doubt that helped though - mainly because I can't really remember any of the songs or anything that happened......
Perhaps I should go see it again!!

IMO it depends more on the individual production and the director's interpretation of the material than many other musicals. I've done it a few times and have absolutely no desire to to it again.

Like any show, it depends on how well it's done.
