See i work in a lab and i am able to have as much blood work i want...for free. Well first I want to see if i am able to get pregnant. But i really do not want to discuss it with everyone that i work with. But is there any certain tests to see if my hormone levels are good to have a child...and also is there any blood tests to see if my fiance is able to have children? I mean i know all the hormones, such as LH, FSH, and Estrogen, and testosterone.

Should those results be high or low, or normal range?
any ideas or test that are availabe?!

thanks for any ideas

I know that you can detect your LH surge with a blood test and your husband could have his sperm count tested. I don't think testing your husbands blood will tell you anything about getting you pregnant. You should go to to your OBGYN and ask them what test the think are necessary. You could also start keeping track of your cycle, there are many websites that you could use to keep of calendar of when you get your period, ovulation, etc... Good Luck.

If you're not anywhere near menopause age, and if you have normal, regular, periods you shouldn't really be worried about blood-work related to luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone, estrogen, etc. Having a regular period usually means you're ovulating most of the time. If you started to checking your temperature and trying to identify when ovulation has occurred that's one other way to confirm that you're ovulating.

Your "friend" could get a sperm count done. That's when they check for the number and motility of sperm.

There are all kinds of things that create problems conceiving that have nothing to do with a woman's hormones and/or blood, so getting blood test to confirm what you probably already have a good idea about (your cycle) wouldn't even give you the information you want.

I think you could benefit from making sure you aren't iron deficient, and a blood test tells that. You could get screened for antigens. (They do that when you get pregnant anyway.) If there are any tests that would detect any nutritional deficiencies that would be good. Also, you could be checked for high blood sugar.

You may want to be checked for your blood type and whether you're Rh negative or positive. You could get checked for any genetic problems that may show up through blood tests.

Levels of the hormones you mentioned change from one part of the cycle to the next. They should be "normal", but I don't know if there's a way to measure normal for each part of the cycle or if there's just an all-around "normal".

I'm guessing that blood tests done on the first half of a woman's cycle will reveal one thing, and blood tests done later may reveal that ovulation is likely to have occurred.

Another issue, though, is that even if you had a whole, big, fertility work-up done (the kind people who are infertile have done) your reproductive condition could change between now and a year from now.

Just because you work in a lab and can get tests for free, though, doesn't mean you have to go wild. :) Just assume you can have children. When all is said and done, most people don't ever really know they can conceive until they do.

You'd be best to just go through your doctor. They will be able to analyze your results and know what steps if any need to be taken. Even if you did the testing yourself and found a problem......your doctor would probably order his own tests anyway. Besides all that, a pre-conception visit is a good idea!

Good luck!!!

only your doctor should be ordering your blood work. see your doctor and have him order the tests then go to your lab and have someone else draw the labs and read them. only your doctor should be ordering your blood work

for your man he needs to give a sperm sample.

as far as I know, its not the blood that is being tested if someone is able to have children but it's the sperm/semen (for men) and eggs (for women) .Have you heard of sperm count?
