Yes, there is a problem at the moment with replacement cards.

It seems that there has a been a big leak of credit / debit card info in the UK, and the people who have got hold of them have been trying to buy stuff with the details. They start by buying a tune on itune as its such a small transaction it usually slips under the radar. If the transaction succeeds they move onto to bigger purchases.

However, the banks fraud departments are picking up these transactions, and when it happens they freeze your account temporarily and you are issued with a replacement card.

Because this has happened to so many people, there are currently longer than normal delays in getting a replacement card, as the people who make the cards are flat out.

Its wierd though, as I have seen nothing about the leak in the papers or on the news, its definately being hushed up!

I know a large number of people that this has happened to in the last couple of weeks, far too many for it to be a coincidence, and they have been told about the card producers delays by the banks. My partner had her card number taken which is how I initially found out about it, since then a number of people I know in the real world and online have had the same thing happen to them (been a couple in this section as well)

Most of the time, most people have no problem.

But I get the impression that all their competent Staff have been leaving in droves and only the idiots and morons are left ..

Since none of them have a clue how to fix anything, when some minor issue does arise it immediately snowballs into never-ending chaos ..

I suggest you call them up & hope you get some-one who not only speaks English but actually understands it too .. you might get lucky and find the one person left who can actually sort it out .. .. whilst at the same time getting ready to move your account elsewhere ..

I have a joint account and they replaced my card instead of the one that needed replacing. Everything about Abbey has gone downhill .Soon they won't have any customers.
