on 6th January 2002, and now 7 years later, we’re about to welcome our 100,000th registered user!



To give you a chance, we’ve got some facts that might help you.

1) We passed 10,000 users on 8th of April, 2004.

2) We passed 50,000 users on 28th of September, 2004.

3) Our average rate of registration in 2006 was 1,721 new people a month.

4) The competition closes on 30th of June 2007.

What month and day will our 100,000 customer land on

First of all , if it is 7 years later then it should be 2009 instead of 2007 , so it could be a trick question . If not then your ans is 30th June 2007 as your competition ended on the same day and you won't have ended it before your 100,000th customer ,

Stick it in Excel and draw a graph .. & do a 'best fit' curve.

As an alternative, write out the equations and see if you can solve them.

HINT - express all dates in 'days'
(so 6 Jan 2002 = day 0
and 8 April 2004 = day 823 .. it's easy in Excel)
