Your "basic necessities" are running you out of memory. Does it offer to expand it? Virtual memory is "magic", in the sense that you can make it as big as you want, but there is a catch. Anything that does not fit in your real memory goes out to your disk, with a corresponding speed penalty.

Allow it to adjust your virtual memory upward, but think about adding real memory if you don't have much.

With 8 GB of RAM you'd probably never swap to virtual memory but if you did you'd probably run out of it really quick. So increase the size of your paging file: right click My Computer (from Desktop or Start Menu) select Properties. On the Properties sheet select the Advanced tab and under Virtual memory click Change...

Adjust the size of the Paging File size by clicking Custom Size. Tip: make Maximum and Initial Sizes the same (this will improve performance a little.)

What "spec" is your computer. If it only has a 256MB memory this will happen as this is the minimum windows xp will run on. Try upgrading your computers memory to 512MB or even higher.
