I've had my laptop 2 years now and when i first got it an accident happened where something heavy fell on the keys and 2 keys came off. They still worked but were tricky to press properly. Now the rubber things underneath have split and they wont work at all. 2 other keys are slightly wobbly as well although they do work. I am going to uni soon so will need full use of my laptop, before i only ever used it at home so just used a standard pc keyboard and plugged it in, but now i will need to take the laptop with me and i wont be able to lug a sperate keyboard around as well.

I would probably need to get a completely new keyboard, but i have no idea how. Do i take it to a pc shop? It is an IBM thinkpad. I have found the certain keyboard on ebay but i wouldnt know how to fix it and i really dont want to in case i break it. Any advice? Does it cost alot?

Hi there I bought a fold up portable keyboard, its great it folds down to the siye of an envelope and as slim and takes up no extra space. It is USB connected so no worries. Go to this sight. www.vnunet.com or www.reghardware.co.uk This is where I got mine worth the money to even though its seems expensive.

Good luck

the guarantee does not disguise water harm. you will would desire to deliver it in someplace to be fastened, whether that could be a good larger situation than purely the keyboard. I had water spill on my keyboard and that i had to get the entire mobo (motherboard) replaced, even nevertheless each and every thing else replaced into in suited working circumstance. one factor i choose to propose is to no longer deliver it to Geeksquad at suited purchase, I used to paintings there and it will value a very great volume of money to restoration. fairly, i might circulate to a close by laptop restore keep and examine with them. If there is something you're able to do approximately it, they permit you comprehend, probable freed from charge.

The best idea is to go to a pc store, there u can ask what should u do, if they say u can fix it alone then ok, if they say u cannot, ask them how it costs to do it. In case it is very expensive ask a friend of yours or find an pc studies teacher or student, they 'll probably help u!

This is not a difficult job, but I recommend taking it to a shop. It should not cost too much but they will be able to source the correct type and fit it.

Why make life more difficult (don't pay a lot though!)

Thinkpad keyboards are replaceable, but they come in lots of configurations, and replacing them can be a bear. I suggest you have a shop do it,they can tell you beforehand what it will cost.
