People get divorced because they do not respect to eachother. Shouting, yelling, calling names, lying, ignore the other, cheating and every negative thing the couples do to eachother is the sign of disrespect. Lack of empathy is another important reason.
If most part of the world accept the freedom (mental and physical) today then a gay marriage is something should be free too. Everyone is responsible for themselves so marriage of a gay couple should not be concern of anyone.

HA HA burgdude, you are right. People these days do not take marriage seriously. It is like a joke to them. If they date for more than a month, then they are most likely already thinking of marriage. I do not believe in gay marriages either...that is not how it was intended to be. The divorce rate could be blamed on early marriages, abuse, and adultery. I believe the divorce rate is as high as it is bc people do not take their vows seriously and there are so many people these days who have no morals or self respect.

It means what you put into it not what others do!
Cause some others can not make a marriage last or marriages breakdown does not mean yours will.
Problem these days people are too busy thinking what others think and do.
If you are both ready and you have both discussed what you want out of this marriage and you both feel it is still what you want go for it enjoy what you can of it it may be 1 month , it may be 1 year it may even be eternity without it you will never know

Marriage is a lifestyle interpreted by the participants of that marriage. Just like life is interpreted by the people living that life. Scummy, mean, lying, two-faced, farm animal molesting filth have always been noticed by a society, luckily, filled with nicer morally and ethical people. And true, it is depressing. Only if you dwell on the worst people are willing to give. Please don't let the dirt bags be a focus of your thoughts. Right now think of what attributes you would cherish in a mate and become that person in character and personality. Like attracts like and with your thoughts NOT dwelling on the uglier parts of our society you will be able to attain clear vision of who is nice and decent and delightful to be around or you will cultivate an appreciation in hobbies and interests you can do alone until you cross paths with those people who bring out the best in you. Marriage will always be the most important unit for an organized society. Consisting of a father, mother and children it is what makes a society (it protects and provides for each individual unit) and if it become unhinged so will the society it is involved. The medias are always running the stats, 50% of marriages fail.. however, they bypass the part that 50% of the marriages do not fail, that they are the backbone of our society.

I'd say that gay marriage makes more sense than so called open marriage!!
But, we are in a world where people have to adapt to find their place, and it's fair enough that we want to hang on to tradition, but we may not impose them on others any more.
What we can do thougth is to make sure that when we do make a commitment, we do our best to make it work and not either give up easily or at least make sure we are making the right choice.

I think to those that are in love and serious about it, make the marriage work,divorce is the result(in some cases) of those that don't want to try,there are still alot of people out there that stick to thier marriage vows.
