I just changed the oil and have been looking for instructions on resetting the Oil Inspection/Service indicator and cannot find anything in any of the manuals I have. The dealership suggested holding the odometer reset button down while I start the car...that doesn't work. Any BMW certified / shadetree mechanics out in Yahoo-town that can help out?

Thanks!

If you only want to reset the oil light, you don't need to buy a peak reset tool. Check the link below for instructions.

Peake reset tools can be purchased for about $50 on eBay.

Neighborhood garages with the tool will charge about $5 for a reset.

If you are friendly with the BMW service tech/rep, they might be willing to help you with a free reset. But don't count on them doing the favor every time.

I believe Peake has a reset tool you can get. They have two verisons of the tool. One only resets the Oil and Service lights and the other does that plus can read fault codes. I have the second one and although twice as much it is very handy.
