Yes. The bios can get corrupted.

A BIOS, since it is just a memory chip, can go bad. But it is rare. What is more common is that the BIOS uses a battery to keep it operating whenever the computer loses power, is unplugged, etc. Over time those batteries will die and have to be replaced.

Check the web site of the manufacturer of the PC for instructions on how to do that, as it is different for every make and model of PC.
