I might have gone for Picard only those silly Hollywood producers went and made him.........FRENCH? The guy is so obviously English!! (funny how they like to make all the bad guys English though).
Sisko and Janeway are just "politically correct, equal opportunity" spin-offs of Picards character. (Keeping those voices deep, unemotional and direct).
Which brings us back to the original....Captain Kirk. Attractive, brave and flawed. The only one at the academy to beat the "Kobishimaru" test......by cheating. Never took himself too seriously, yet respected by his shipmates and enemies. It took two men to replace Kirk, Picard and Ryker.
Soooooo, it has to be...... Kirk! Lets face it, had he not have done such a good job, there would have been no more Star Trek!

I was 14 when Star Trek first came out. Captain Kirk will always be number one for me.
I enjoyed all the captains, really it usually depends on which one you watch first. I loved Star Trek!

No need to ask!!! ITS CAPT SISKO!!!!!!!!
Sisko is the commanding officer of space station Deep Space Nine and the USS Defiant. Because of his discovery of the Bajoran wormhole, and his direct contact with the lifeforms residing therein, the Bajorans name Sisko the "Emissary of the Prophets," an important icon in their religion. He is uncomfortable with that title during much of his time on Deep Space Nine (DS9), struggling with his duty as the Emissary and his duty as a Starfleet officer.Sisko plays a critical role in the intrigue of the Alpha Quadrant. Sisko played a key role in stopping a Coup d'état attempt on Earth from his former Captain, Admiral Leyton. During the Klingon invasion of Cardassia, he is crucial to exposing the Founder impersonating Klingon general Martok. Sisko's exploits continue during the Dominion's invasion of the Alpha Quadrant, eventually working alongside Vice Admiral William Ross to help plan massive actions against the Dominion and their Cardassian and Breen allies. Sisko's contributions to the war effort are sometimes more surreptitious, such as his clandestine work with Elim Garak to bring the Romulans into, and thus turn the tide of, the war.
Sisko fulfills the Prophets' destiny for him in the series' finale, "What You Leave Behind," by confronting the Kosst Amojan-possessed Gul Dukat. They fight, and Dukat seems to be the winner, but in a last effort, Sisko throws himself and Dukat into the fiery abyss of the Bajoran Fire Caves, and Sisko is pulled into the Prophets' plane of existence to live with and learn from them. Ben imparts a farewell to his new - and pregnant - wife, Kasidy Yates, informing her that he does not know when he will be able to return to her.
No other captain became a god and saw as much action while commanding a space station and the USS Defiant. Also my I add the defiant was a mother of a ship to be so small and so powerful and nothing like the enterprise/or voyager

A star from me for a good question. I think probably Picard would win my vote. Such a deep thinker. A real diplomat. Very much the born leader. But I liked Kirk and Janeway very much too. Hard to decide, but Picard wins overall.

Picard - a strong character who was also believable. And let's face it, he was the best 'acted' - Patrick Stewart is the best actor ever in any Trek.

Undoubtedly Admiral, née Captain, Kathryn Janeway.
No other captain has gotten their ship out of so many scrapes without the aid of Starfleet or any other Federation starships. She has had help from other friendly races but they have always been inferior.
She is also the first Starfleet officer to traverse the Delta Quadrant.
My hats off to her!
