Rappers like him and Eazy E (rip) keep being mentioned as the best. Should'nt Ice Cube have this title, even Tupac said that he learned from him. Dre has always had ghostwriters even during the NWA era. The Chronic series were both ghostwritten and half the albums's songs are done by other rappers: Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, RBX, The Lady of Rage, Daz, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Xzibit, Eminem, Hittman and even Eddi Griffin!

I don't agree that he is the best rapper. I think he is the best producer though. I think people my confuse him for best west coast rapper since is is like the ambassador or the west coast scene. He has been around for quit a long time now making hit songs (producing them at least) He's a real OG. I think Ice Cube is good but in my opinion he sold out too much. doin all these movies like "Are we there Yet?" He lost his image and I don't really see him as a rapper any more. Mostly as an actor. I do agree though his older stuff like with the west side connection was pretty dope.

They dont say it because of his rap skills, they say it because he was a movement. He made the west! Ice Cube does deserve more credit them he recieves, but Dre doesnt deserve any less either. Dre had Nwa, Solo career, found Snoop, Found The D.O.C., found Eminem, found 50, found the game. So thats why I think he is credited with the WEST coast movement. He definetly aint the best rapper tho.

Dr. Dre is one of the best producers alive, on the west coast, but he's DEFINITELY NOT a great rapper at all. He'll be releasing his final album 'Detox' next summer.
