Is it necessary to get the extended warranty on a Sony Vaio laptop? I had a really bad experience with a Toshiba Satellite where having the extended warranty saved me over $1800 (I'm not exaggerating). I don't think that's a common thing, but what do you think about extended warranties on laptops, specifically Sony's?

All laptops cost a lot of money to repair if something fails outside of warranty so get the extended warranty no matter what you're buying (you've had a very expensive repair covered under an extended warranty for one of the better brands so you should have a good idea of what it can cost).

I would get an extended warranty on any Vaio.I've had a Vaio for less than 2 years and already the DVD drive has broken.I'm stuffed, because I didn't extend the warranty.I've had to get an external one
