I keep reading over and over again various ideas and comments about the fact that the Portuguese Police have set the McCann's up !!! Please can someone explain to me what would be gained from that cause it makes NO sense ??
As that would mean the real person behind this crime is still around and very likely to strike again..Im not at all naive, and im not saying that in the past that sort of thing hasn't happened..but in a case like this what possible reason would the Police have for framing the McCann's...as if this scenario was proved there would be global outcry...and that would do far more permanent damage to the Algarves Tourism than the original crime surely ??????????????????

They have to gain their face from the set up here. They don't have to lose face by not having someone to pin this on. They have no leads, no clues of any kind, and are grabbing at straws. They know they have to produce something here or they look stupid. That is why suddenly on a car rented weeks after the abduction there is blood in it. That was an obvious plan.

They will find her and it won't be pretty either when they do. Once she is found the parents will be cleared completely.

Ruthybabe, its a sad but real fact that prisons house quite a few innocents.

You ask what could be gained...
1. Well, for starters, it would sure cover up a shoddy investigation.
2. There is immense pressure on the PJ to find the guilty party 'cos of the immense media coverage worldwide.
They need, desperately need, to show some kind of result to their investigations, any kind, actually.
If you read closely, you'll see that tho' they insinuate that the McCanns are guilty, never have the PJ accused them blatantly as they don't have "significant evidence" against them and they know this for sure & thats how they avoid the "global outcry" that you rightly discerned.
3. Its the media too that is doing its best to set up the McCanns...just to rake in cheap sensationalsim.

chuffed Murcia this entire saga is a lot from over yet. There are nonetheless a super type of questions unanswered and we do not know what's certainly happening in the back of scenes. there has been a super type of twists and turns and that i guess there are a good purchase extra to come again. something has no longer been perfect considering day one. i won't be able to help thinking there is extra to all this then meets the attention. I do experience Robert Murat grow to be made a scapegoat to conceal their very own tracks and that i desire he's cleared quickly. i desire justice is finished for Madeleine quickly. This seems to be like dragging on and on.

I don't agree that the police deliberately set them up. I do think they were concentrating too close to home, though. I was immediately concerned when just after Madeleine disapeared, the policeman in charge of the case said he believed the perpetrator to be English/British. And lo and behold, the three suspects are all such.
