My girlfriend and I are 24 months pregnant and she is having numbness in both arms while sleeping. SHe also has shortness of breath when she lays down. Does anyone know if this is somewhat normal. Sh is fine if she is not laying down. I know we should probably go in to the ER but Im hoping someone might recognize these symptoms. Please advise. Thanks..

The shortness of breath is only when she is laying down. Her arms are only numb when she wakes up..

So normal!!! the baby is pushing up on her lungs so what you need to do is get her alot of pillows and the knubness is pressing on the nerves. shes fine but call the doctor just to be safe.

Having shortness of breath is not okay. Do take her into the ER.

* I realize that it is only when she lays down. But never play about with SOB.

Shortness of breath could be caused by the uterus pushing the lungs up (causing shortness of breath) and pushing the bladder down (causing frequent need to urinate).

Numbness in her arms can be caused by compression of her nerves - lots of pregnant women get carpal tunnel syndrome during pregnancy because of this.

Either way - both are a little nervous - and should get checked out.

She can't be 24 months pregnant.

You need to take her to the emergency room right away. It could be a stroke or a heart attack.

It's better to be safe and get it checked out. Hopefully it's nothing...
