Because we don't get the fact that we are the same thing. People don't respect other people why should they respect nature. By not respecting nature we seal our doom. We used to live through the land, farming, raising animals etc., Now we just go to the grocery store instead of going into the garden we plowed to get our food. We have lost the love and respect we have for mother nature. We no longer connect with each other.

95% of us have lost touch with nature.

When was the last time you stood in a pristine envirnment, not visited upon by the vagarities of man:
Signs, fences, rubbish bins, trash, pathways, stairs and kiosks.
The wide open untrodden spaces where no man may have walked for a thousand years. All that without having your car parked a short 100mtrs away in the carpark.

Yes, the last two or three generations have surely lost contact with nature, and are moving further away from reality as the years go by.

Nature survives in the cracks and crevices of the big cities. The window ledges and eves of the skyscrapers are home for the once proud hawks, eagles and kites, and many smaller mammals forgage as they can in the alleys and garage tins of the thieves that stole their homeland.

Humans.

A species gone mad, overpopulating, greedy creatures without care or remorse. Roaming the countryside, destroying, polluting, and spoiling everything in their path.

You have a nice day.
And try not to destroy too much as you do.

Other people have no respect to nature because they do not realize its importance to humanity. They must not know the reasons of more growing natural calamities nowadays, they maybe ignorant of the facts that we are suffering due to the destuction of the natural resources and so..they need to be informed with regards to this ..on the other hand, they are well aware but maybe some people are born to be that kind and they are pitiful. .

Well I think that looking at it from the other side, a lot of environmentalists' "respect" for nature borders on religious. Those who don't respect nature are planet-destroying heathens, unworthy of the salvation that such respect would bring. Anyone with an opinion differing from respect is a heretic to be fought against, their arguments dismissed.

If you want to see what people can do for nature, go to UAE and see how a desert has been converted into a Garden, Golf Course. A city that blooms in different colours in different seasons. They pour money to maintain nature. Those who do not have nature knows the value of it.

In the game of life, nature is the field we all play on. Manicured to our human desires with many artificial things to help us play the game; lights, goals, manicured grass ect. Many have there attention fixed on the game at hand and go about doing their part. No one really pays attention to the field until it starts to affect the game.

Others however look at the field first and say " Jeez, that thing is tore up. How the heck can I even play on that?"

And there you go. The respect depends on the perspective of the person. Many are too focused on their careers and social lives to know or care about what is going on in the natural world - that is of course until nature makes itself aware in the form of tsunamis, hurricanes, flash floods, plagues ect.

People have become disconnected.

If they had to grow their own food, feed their own lovestock, butcher their own meat...things would be different.

People think that food comes from a grocery store and when they are hungry they can go to a restaurant. They don't sit back and think of where it all begins.

Therefore they take nature for granted.
