Have you ever written a story and LIVED ALL THE EMOTIONS out w/out having2live it out in reality??

so maaaaaaaaany things one can experience emotionally and 'work out'/LIVE on many levels thru writing :o) ?

I write military fiction and one of my leading characters is based directly on myself. I clearly remember everything that character went through a lot clearer than what happened in my own past. Most of my dreams are of scenes from my books or the backstory. Some people say that I'm work too much, but it's very cool to experience a lot of the emotions my book counterpart does. This sort of thing happens even if I read stories other than my own.
