Ok, there is a fine line between loosing a war and being defeated. It was the american objective to curb the wake of communism within vietnam and implement a democratic and american friendly system of rule. America won militarily but lost when it came to changing the hearts and minds of the people and the vietkong. As for successes, we can say it did set an example to other "red friendly' nations in the same way the iraq was an example to other terrorist friendly nations, cause who right now is or was backing iraq? Nobody.

Re-buffing the Tett offensive is one. I could go onto list all of the military engagements, but it is probably better to quote an American general.

During the final stages, when America was about to sign a peace treaty, the American representative proclaimed:

"We never lost a battle".

The Vietnamese representative asked:

"What does that have to do with any thing?"

Luck
