How far in the playoffs do you think you guys will go this year? And how about the Yanks?

The Yanks are pathetic and always will be? Last I checked they won 26 championships (most in north american sports history) to Boston's 6. 39 pennants to the Sox 11. Pretty pathetic all right.

To John L: Scheduling in MLB is probably the only thing you cannot argue because everyone plays the same teams. The Yankees beat the teams they're supposed to. Not to mention that the Yankees are 6-0 against Cleveland and 10-8 against Boston this year. They split the season series with Detroit and have only struggled with the Angels. It's not like college football where schools get to beat up on the little guys to boost their ranking (not that it worked this year for m*ch*g*n).
As for the original question I think the answer is no. Nervous was last week when Boston had a shot at missing the playoffs. Even when the Yankees capture the division this weekend Boston will still make the playoffs as the Wild Card.

This question assumes that the Boston Red Sox are a good ball club. This is NOT a good ball club. A 14-game lead in April is just that, a 14 game lead in April. The Red Sox were healthy, they had young, fresh arms, and their pitching helped them hang onto a lot of victories, no thanks to their offensive lackpowers. The Yankees had the opposite problem. ARod and the gang were bopping the big ones, but often that wasn't enough when their lackluster pitching gave up too many runs. However, their offense made up for bad pitching just enough times to stay in it. Head-to-head, except for the first series of the season, the Yankees have owned the Red Sox. That alone chips a good ten games or more off that 14 game lead. With barely a 5 game lead weeks before the end of the season, nothing is certain, especially not in the AL. They will both make the playoffs and likely both be ousted in the first round anyway and then all that bellyaching goes for naught.

It would appear that both the Yanks and Red Sox will make the playoffs anyway. Bring on a Sox-Yanks ALCS.

i replaced into born in ny and characteristic been a purple Sox fan for 40 years(10-11-sixty seven) My heart's been broken in the past yet this can't be the 12 months the place it happens back. Our pitching and hitting are too stable for many communities. get waiting to celebrate with some stable baseball!!!

I kind of hope the Sox win it, even though I'm a Yankee fan. Looks like the wild card will have to play in Cleveland, which is fine by me.
