I let them loose, but I'm not a very emotional person, so it would appear on the surface that I bottle up my emotions.

hmm, I would say I bottle them up then let it explode when it comes to something that is really troubling me. I try to be very forthcoming about my emotions because I experience so many on a daily basis. Whether it be laughing because of something funny, expressing gratitude for something by smiling and thanking the universe, or frustration when things do not go as well as expected, understanding when they do not.

I try not to hold grudges--I learn from my mistakes--so I don't keep emotions bottled up. I let them loose when it seems necessary and I know I'm not going to seriously upset anyone.

The best way to confront someone in a relationship is to tell them face to face even if it's bad news. If you need some time to get your "speech" ready about the problem, so be it. Phones would actually be a disadvantage for you because you can get disconnected, she has to go do something, etc. I mean it's just impersonal and you care about this person at all, the right way is to say it in person. Nothing is too odd, or irregular and if this person is not ok with your peeves, maybe you need to rethink the whole relationship alltogether.
