I mean, there are a lot of bad fans out there, but as a group the Pats fans are the worst. What's the deal?

Because they are cranky from being on that overcrowded bandwagon.
Plus a lot of them are also Red Sox fans. You do the math.

For the same reason Yankee fans are so annoying. They are great and they know it. You have to figure, it's human nature, when you go through 30 years of placing last in your division, then all of a sudden you are considered a Dynasty, you are going to be pretty excited about it. Not to meantion the fact that New England is not Arizona, these people live for the Sox, Pats, and Celtics. And if you think that the Pats fans are the worst, take a trip to Philly or Pittsburgh or Detroit during basketball season.
Also, Pats fans love the fact that you hate them. Just like the team loves the fact that we all hate them. It's what fuels their fire. They don't wan't you to think they are a bunch of sweathearts.

I'm totally with you on this one, the thing I find truely annoying about the Patriots so called "fans" is that most of them know nothing about the game. A a real fan can name ALL of the starting players on both sides of the ball, how many Pats fans that post here know the names of the Offensive Linemen?
I'm sure one of them will post the names here after they look them up, don't bother we know you're a cheating poser, you're a Pats fan.
It's easy to be a "fan" of the team that is clearly loaded with the most talent in the league.
I HATE the Patriots not really because of any of the players, thier cheating coaching staff or really anything else to do with the team except for thier annoying tool bag "fans".
It looks like the Patriots are going to win another Super Bowl this year because I see how ANY other team can beat them right now, but that said I will still be pulling for every team they play this year. Who knows maybe they will have some injury problems later in the season, that's they only way I see them not going to the Super Bowl and running over the Minor league (NFC) opponent.

Would you consider this question annoying?
Alot of us Patriot fans have liked the team long before we started winning Super Bowls. I cried myself to sleep in 1986 (1985 season) when we lost to the Bears (I was 10.) You should be more careful when you call people bandwagon fans, especially when you've never met them.
For the guy that asked, their O-Line is as follows (no research needed, I haven't missed a game in many years.)

and throw in Benjamin Watson if you consider the TE position as being on the line.

It's a combination of two things:
1. We've gotten spoiled with Super Bowl wins the last few years.
2. Most people either love the Patriots or hate them (atleast it seems that way). So Patriot fans are either always complimenting them or always insulting people who hate them.

Because they have the most talent on the field, all around.
I hate them because they're in my division.
There's also a lot of bandwagon fans. the thing I hate most about this is the girls. Stupid girls who go for them only cause they think Tom Brady is hot, they have 3 SB rings in recent years, "everyone" else likes them cause they're all bandwagon fans. I also hate the pink jerseys. Come on! It's a mans sport, and if you want to get involved, wear your "team's" colors!!
Sorry for the rant, but they're mostly bandwagon fans. Hopefully in a few years they'll go back to being crappy, and their tickets sales will be nil.
