First off, I like Mcnabb. I think he is a classy guy and a good QB. But what he said seems pretty unfounded in today's NFL. ALL QB's get criticized. To what level depends most on the popularity of their team and if the team has ever been any good. Examples would be Jake Plummer had a fantastic W-L record in his 4 seasons with Denver, but was heavily criticized. And in Philly last season, Garcia had to win 2-3 games before the fans stopped booing him. I agree most with what Chris Carter and Vince Young said. Carter said once McNabb signed the contract, he had no choice to put up with it and asked why McNabb would even care what people think. Vince Young said that if you can't take it, you should get out of the game.....Sentiments I agree with completely. In today's NFL players like Jake Plummer and Rex Grossman have gotten possibly THE most criticism, with Vick only in the mix because of his extremely high contract with NO results as of his suspension. Nothing to do with race

Here we go again, McNabb at the center of a racially charged story. When is he gonna stop hiding behind the "black QB" issue and man up for his bad playing?

As for the Rush Limbaugh incident, I didn't see a problem with what was said. I totally agreed with the statement when he said it on TV. Before you start shouting "racist", I am a black too.

I feel very sorry for McNabb. He chose the low road in the HBO interview. I suppose it is human nature to make excuses and find blame, but I think it is ridiculous to suggest that black QBs are more criticized. Last time I checked, Rex Grossman, Joey Harrington and Charlie Frye were white. There is no QB in the last year that has received more harsh criticism than Grossman. Fair is fair...if you are not playing well, the critics come out of the woodwork.

McNabb is aging and recovering from an injury. I am sure all of this will blow over, but I will bet in his heart he knows the statement is false.

You make some valid points. I think McNabb is just frustrated that he's not in pro form coming out of his ACL rehab. During that time he was criticized mainly by Rush Limbaugh, saying he's an overrated QB. He took it personally and now he's made some poor comments. I personally think in order to be a 5-time pro bowl QB you have to be pretty damn good. McNabb is good but he's just not ready to play this early. He should think less about his critics and just prove them wrong on the field where it matters. It sucks that some of his Philly fans would turn their backs on him when he's not doing well though. The only ones that are standing behind him are his teammates.

It seems to me that racism in sports is constantly being perpetuated by the black athlete. Athletes from other races never seem to be bothered with such trivialities. McNabb's remarks were totally unfounded and frankly, as a sports fan, I'm sick of hearing it. Throughout his entire career his has always managed to deflect the blame elsewhere. It always seems to be either someone else's fault or he's not being treated fairly. That's pretty short sighted of him.

I'm an Eagles fan and have watched McNabb's career unfold. I don't particularly think he's a good QB. He has always demonstrated a lack of vision and creativity. He has never been able to read defenses very well.

He has only himself to blame for his problems. I look for the Eagles to release him at the end of this season. Both NcNabb and the Eagles need to go in different directions.

To a certain extend I would agree. There are going to be a segment of our population that will not look past Donovan McNabb's skin color. Having said that, a lot of his criticism is very unfounded. He plays on a team in a town that is very tough on their players. Philadelphia fan tends to be mean spirited by their very nature. They would boo Jesus Christ if he was under center taking snaps and his team was 0-2 and playing poorly.

Maybe McNabb should trade places with Rex Grossman or Eli Manning,I used to considered McNabb a great and classy football player, but now it seems he wants to hide his losing streak behind the race card, next he'll say the officials are picking on him,

I am just wondering when will there be enough black quarterbacks so that people will stop griping. For Crying out loud, the NFL is what? 70% Black overall? 6 teams out of 32 have a black quarterback as their starter which means 18.75% of the teams have a black quarterback. If you look at the US census that is higher than the black population in our country. Where are the white Wide receivers? Why are there so few white defenders? No white running backs. Most of the white guys in the game are quarterbacks, offensive linemen, or kickers (which barely counts). I want to know when are they going to recruit more white guys into football?

How about basketball? Except for a few Europeans/Internationals who didn't grow up thinking that "white boys can't jump" How many white (American)players are there in the game? A handful. Where is the cry that we need to get more white youth into the game?

In baseball, tennis, golf, hockey they are saying they "have" to recruit more black players, but where is this same call and recognition of the extreme disparity between white and black percentages in football, basketball, track and field, etc.?

The fact is there is more scrutiny of white players trying to break stereotype than there is of any black player in any game. A black player has massive media support, a white guy trying to be the next Jordan (basketball), or great running back (football) would be considered a joke and everyone would tell him he couldn't do it until other players gunned for him to take out, he failed, or he just plain gave up.

There is a racial problem in sports today. Whites are told they can't do anything as well as blacks. There is far more scrutiny and criticism of the white athlete than the black.

I have to amend my opinion after having read an article in this mornings Philadelphia Inquirer. (if you are interested, go to www.philly.com and look for Phil Sheridan's piece on this subject)

I wasn't aware of some things that Sheridan brought up about his family's house being vandalized and such. But that still doesn't change the fact that I feel Donovan didn't need to broach this subject. I still like D-Mac as my QB. I think he handled the Limbaugh-babble incident with class and dignity and can understand his frustration better now.

It makes racism a bigger issue than it really is when black people start running their mouths about things that arent even true then that gets everyone talking about it. peyton was criticized constantly up until he won the superbowl. every quarterback is criticized for something he does wrong doesnt matter how good he is. he is just making a ridicilous accusation that has no merit to it. i know philadelphia has some hard fans to please and maybe thats why he feels like there is more scrutiny on him than other qb's. but either way he is wrong

This isn't going to sound popular, but I kind of agree with him, but in a different sense. I think the media WANTS a black quarterback to be successful. Randall cunningham and Warren Moon had everyone saying "What if" The current stigma is that Black quarterbacks may possess the skill set, they don't possess the complete mental game to be successful in the pro QB position. I don't agree with it, I'm just saying what it is in the media.
