They say "excuse my Turk" because apparently Turkey is not a well-liked country to Europeans.

What are you nuts?! Go back to your history lessons...Why would the French have to speak English at all? If anything it would be a combo of Huron & Mohawk(Iroquois)....but it would not be 'the English'. It was the Brits who had to learn another language as they found that they had the disadvantage of NOT being understood by either the Indians or the French when they came to OUR country. Imagine that...they are the ones who NEEDED to apologize each and every single time they spoke the language because they not only spoke it badly, but rarely put the necessary heart into learning the language. For the British, learning French was just a way to get them to do what the British wanted but unfortunately everyone else was speaking French. They were a little put out about it....just as well that they went back to their own continent and left us to ours. This is the reason behind the phrase " pardon my French" which is where I pressume you were going with this question. Guard Dog
