Ok - this came to me while I was watching tv, I was just wondering...

A man and a woman both in their 20's meet, fall in love, and marry after a few years. At the wedding the man's mother, who lost her husband say - 15 years before, meets the womans father, who lost his wife recently. The father and mother of the couple become friends, they live in the same town ... time passes, the couple is happily married and has a few children, when the parents announce that they're dating.

Eventually, when the grandchildren are 7 or 8, they decide they might want to get married. The couple has no problem, but wonder what to tell their children...

What would they tell them? Is this wrong? After all the parents aren't related, except throught the children's children. I'm sure, at some point in history, this has happened...but is it just a little too wierd?

I don't see any moral objections, but it is a little unusual and could be akward to try to explain to strangers.

It is not wrong. What about brothers that marry sisters, or in my cause, 2 cousins marry 2 brothers.

Or, 2 step brother and sister, marry.....

They are not related by blood and they would tell the grandkids that grandpa is daddy's dad and grandma is mommy's mom, we met at their wedding and fell in love.

Were just one big happy family..
Simple..

Ok maybe just a tad weird, but then if everything was cut and dry, all the same, we would have nothing to talk about!

Nagging is not any reason for an affair. Ted would not pay attention. Barbara is annoyed by Ted no longer listening. Barbara is likewise perfect, she has Ted nailed as a available cheater. Barbara is stable on, and clever, and he or she would not know merely how perfect she is approximately Ted.

It's a beautiful thing. It is not illegal or immoral. Just tell the children that grandma is going to marry grandpa, unless they are old enough to hear the whole explanation, in which case you would tell them everything. My Dad had double second cousins, so a second marriage between the two families just brings everyone closer.

No, they are not related at all. My dad's brother married my mom's sister, so I have double first cousins. Nothing wrong or strange about it. They were not related.

Love is love. Just go with it. It's not like they're related by blood or anything.

There's no relationship, and it does happen. They should just tell the story the same way you laid it out and be happy.
