First of all, what's wrong with the existing motor? You over-rev it and throw a rod or float a valve? If your engine is just tired, have or overhaul it yourself. The problem with buying a used engine is you don't know what you're getting or how it's been maintained. A 20,000 mile engine in a squid's bike is likely to be more worn that a touring bike with 5 times that mileage. If you floated a valve and bent a valve, again I'd recommend you have it repaired...just make sure the crank isn't bent because the entire engine will have to come apart to replace that. The best place to find an engine or parts is to google "motorcycle salvage yards (or recyclers)" and make a few phone calls. If in the midwest, try Outpost Motorcycle Salvage at Rosebud MO.

Don't buy a rebuilt motor, get one from a wrecked bike instead.
