The majority will get to rule once we have a new President who actually will listen to the will of the people who elected him/her, and not Bush who will misinterpret the will of the people.

If we ran this country by the polls, a lot of things would be different (and not always for the better). While I was never in favor of this war, it's irresponsible to demand, and expect, that the troops be brought home immediately.
If the country ran by the polls, pot would be legal and school prayer would be in the schools. This is why it's the job of the government to pull the popular opinions to the rational and fair ones. Do they always do the job 100% correctly for 100% of people? Of course not. But a poll saying the troops should be home tomorrow isn't something to make policy on. And if it were, how about putting a poll in the field saying America should stop all foreign aid... it would immediately. Yet helping the would is generally a good thing (despite the fact that America nears the bottom of the list in % of GDP given to foreign aid) and we have a moral obligation to send some of our money elsewhere.
Polls are rarely accurate in the first place, and even when they are, it's not a good idea to make policy on the percentage of people who answer.

Unfortunately, the majority tends to only look at the present or the past. They don't look towards the future. The majority doesn't have a ton of vision. They were all for invading Iraq until our people started dying and the reasons came into question--when most intelligent, discerning, educated people saw right away that the Iraq war was about oil, not democracy. Now they want to pull out of a chaos they themselves initially supported, without considering the consequences. The larger the majority becomes, the narrower its vision.
And since Congress is now controlled by the Dems, and a Republican holds the veto power, nothing is getting done. Therefore, our 'democracy' (it's a REPUBLIC, DARN IT!!!!) is not being any more dismantled than it has already been. Only time will tell if the course we're on is the death of our country (I blame multiculturalism--hey, it destroyed Rome!) or if we're not too far gone to take another.

Just because the majority of people that you hang out with thinks that does not mean that the nation AS A WHOLE thinks that. For instance, what percentage of the TOTAL population do YOU think has spent some time in jail? Email me if you want the correct answer.

This is democracy. It's called mob rule. Where in the Constitution does it say you can rule anybody. Vote for Ron Paul. Restore the Constitution. End the illegal occupation and bring us back to a Constitutional republic.

Wrong. The last respectable poll showed around 55% of Americans want U.S. troops in Iraq.
Liberals think everyone wants to pull out of iraq because liberals surround themselves with liberals. They don't know what most Americans want.

The "majority" does not run the military. the Commander in Chief does...Do not confuse a bunch of liberals as "America". Most of America wants our troops to succeed

That's that liberal media for you!
I don't know how Bush ever got elected. Actually I do. It is about the same way as the minority (with money) rules the US! And they are part of the problem! NO, they ARE the problem!

What the majority want only counts on election day.
It is bad enough that the bottom half of this country are given even that much say.
